Little India Street Photography

My nephew Sebastian comes for a visit most summers.  I’m always afraid that one day he’ll be too cool for us as he’s now in his mid-teens.  This summer Sebastian and I talked a lot about photography.  He showed me tutorials he liked and spurred me into action on this blog.  Whenever Sebastian comes we have to eat his favourites.  So on our way to Lahore Tikka on Gerrard Street East, we took our cameras and did a little streetRead more

Ko Families

This was my third time photographing the Ko Family.  Popular culture would have you believe that people are most attractive when they’re young (i.e. teenagers) but I think that many people are more attractive, more interesting and more substantial as they grow older.  I think that each time I photograph the Ko Family they get more and more attractive, more loving and more interesting in their relationships.  This time we did two sides of the Ko Family with grandmother asRead more

Mifsud Family and my own family

Family photos are hard.  Family photos on a hot July day with 7 children is very hard. My cousin tried to warn me about how hard is to get all four of her kids to smile.  I have so many hilarious out takes of family photos where my kids either look zoned out (Holden) or have a sour lemon face (Lauren). I think that she and her husband felt a lot better about their struggles getting a family photo when she sawRead more

Christa and Kurt

I’m often amazed when people have many different looks and expressions.  Christa and Kurt had their natural smiles, great interaction and also had a range of serious faces and gazes.  Also I think that Kurt’s face must be elastic because of the Jim Carrey-like faces he can make.Read more

Nathan and Sara Wedding Photos

There are a lot of photographers in my family.  I took Nathan and Sara’s garden photos.  My uncle Phil (Philtography) and Aunt Susan (Rosie’s Tea Party videos) took turns taking photos for the rest of the day.  Each couple has their own chemistry.  I never had to ask Sara and Nathan to smile.  They were so happy that smiles were glued to their faces and they seemed to glow with happiness.Read more

Nathan and Sara Engagements

My brother Nathan is such a sweetheart.  He is the kind of person who just shows up when he knows that you’re working on something because he wants to help or because he is genuinely interested in learning how to renovate.  And since we renovated our home for over five years, Nathan was around a lot.  So was his fiance Sara.  I figured that there was no way that I could ever pay him back for all of his helpRead more

Anita and Guillaume

I enjoy getting to know the families of the bride and groom as I photograph throughout the day.  This day was no exception.  Even though I don’t speak French (except to mispronounce words in books as I read with my kindergarten age son in French Immersion) I got to see the great humour and personality of Guillaume’s family.  I already knew Anita’s family and felt so happy to take their photos and spend the special day with them.  Read more
